Years ago I saw a picture in a knitting magazine. It wasn’t for a pattern — the picture was in a yarn advertisement. In one of my crazy clean-out sessions I threw the magazine out, so I can’t show you the picture that inspired this mohair jacket. But I do remember it was also black and grey and made up of panels.
I didn’t bother to let the stripes in the panels line up – I rather like asymmetrical designs. And I knitted the panels together, using my favourite method of making picot stitches as you cast off.
The very large, luxurious collar is my own addition, as well as the “movable button” that enables one to close the jacket in many different ways.
